How air-freight weight is calculated

Air-freight pricing commonly considers actual and volumetric weight. A light but bulky package may have a higher volumetric weight. Our chargeable-weight calculator compares the two. Use the divisor agreed with your carrier.

Cargo acceptance comes first

Give a specific goods description. Batteries, aerosols, liquids and other restricted items need particular review. Do not assume that an item suitable for ordinary road delivery can be accepted for air transport.

What to send for a quote

Include the number of pieces, outer dimensions and gross weight of each package type. State the origin, destination and cargo-ready date. Ask what collection, handling and delivery are included, and when any quoted space must be confirmed.

Is air freight always the fastest option?

The flight leg may be shorter, but the full timeline also depends on cargo acceptance, availability, collection, clearance and delivery. Compare the complete journey.

Which divisor should I use for air freight?

Use the divisor specified by your carrier. Our calculator starts at 6,000 cm³/kg as an example, but this does not apply to every service.

Can you confirm space immediately?
